sexual organ can be affected by several disorders. Such conditions should be
brought to the attention of a qualified doctor and some of them require
surgery.
Here they are:
Impotence or Erectile Dysfunction
The best known disorders penis is impotence,
today known as erectile dysfunction, is the inability to achieve or maintain a
state of the erect penis to have a satisfactory sexual performance.
Swelling of the Foreskin
The
simplest disorder is the swelling of the foreskin, which can result from sexual
activity, including masturbation. This disorder is called Oedema and it is practically
harmless as long as the foreskin
is in a normal position and the blood flow is present. However, a doctor must
be sought if the swelling persists, as it may be pointing to chronic heart
disease.
Paraphimosis
Paraphimosis
is the inability to more the
foreskin over the glans either from fluid
trapped in a foreskin which is left retracted
or the accumulation of fluid in the foreskin after an intense
sexual activity. The condition can be treated by simple means. If it persists
for several hours, a visit to the doctor is required.
Peyronie's Disease
Peyronie's
disease is one of the most common disorders of the penis. It is characterized
by a curvature of the penis caused by scar tissue abnormalities. The surgery is
usually necessary in serious cases.
Pudendal Nerve
Accidents
and difficult cycle seats can cause damage to the pudendal nerve. The pudendal
nerve trap is characterized by pain at the meeting and the loss of sensation
and orgasm. It should not be confused with loss of sensation caused by
permanent nerve damage from diabetes or peripheral neuropathy.
As with
other muscles, the penis may be torn by too curved. Fracture of the penis
should be treated as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage.
Priapism
Priapism
is a painful medical condition in which an erect penis is unable to return to
the flaccid state. Potential complications ischaemia, thrombosis, and
impotence. In severe serious cases the condition may result in gangrene, which
may requiring amputation.
